All That Fall
at Wilton's Music Hall
After its sell-out 5 star success Jermyn Street Theatre is proud to announce the West-End transfer of All That Fall directed by Trevor Nunn.
Maddy Rooney, plagued by rheumatism and childlessness decides to surprise her blind husband for his birthday by meeting him at the local railway station. But his train is mysteriously delayed and she can't seem to get a straight answer as to why.
It was written as a radio play for the BBC and first broadcast in 1957. This is the first time the play has been seen in this country, for the Beckett Estate has repeatedly refused to authorise a conventional stage production. However the director Trevor Nunn, famous for his wily charm, has persuaded them to change their mind by presenting the play as if we were watching a group of actors recording the piece for a radio transmission. They perform with scripts in their hands, there are visible microphones, and a host of sound effects, ranging from farmyard animals to hissing steam locomotives.
