What can I expect?
The beloved and brilliantly cheeky musical Avenue Q is returning to London – and it’s funnier, sharper and more relevant than ever.
Opening in London, this iconic production combines colourful puppetry with razor-smart comedy to shine a light on the messy realities of adulthood in the most joyful way possible.
The story follows Princeton, an optimistic recent graduate searching for meaning (and a job) in New York City. With student loans piling up and expectations running high, he lands in a scruffy little neighbourhood known as Avenue Q. Here, he encounters a wonderfully quirky group of neighbours including Kate Monster, a sweet and hopeful kindergarten assistant; Rod, a banker who may not be ready to admit who he truly is; Nicky, his easygoing roommate; and Trekkie Monster, whose love for the internet is… let’s just say specific.
As friendships form, dreams collide and love takes unexpected turns, the residents of Avenue Q discover that life’s biggest lessons rarely come from storybooks or schoolrooms. Instead, they come from laughter, mistakes, misunderstandings – and the people who stand by you through it all.
With its unforgettable songs, from “It Sucks to Be Me” to the internet anthem everyone secretly knows, Avenue Q is a riotous, uplifting reminder that none of us really have life figured out – and that’s okay.
Don’t miss the triumphant return of this musical favourite.
